Floral collaboration with the Vandalorum Art and Design Museum

The sisters Lisbet Jobs (1909–61) and Gocken Jobs (1914–95) created pottery and patterns for textiles that still make homes blossom today. Examples of Swedish flora wend their way across barrels, tiles and hand-printed fabrics. Elegant meadow flowers, delicate foliage and ripe fruiting plants display their beauty in the humble setting. The exhibition tells the story of two successful artists, Lisbet and Gocken Jobs. The sisters worked side-by-side and attracted a loyal clientele. Their way of taking handicraft seriously and appreciating the power of nature is as much an inspiration today as it was then. Lisbet and Gocken Jobs’ treasured patterns are rooted in the handicraft and traditions of the Dalarna region. The major presentation of the sisters in Småland ties in with their family history. Their mother Elisabet Wisén-Jobs grew up in Alsjöholm, outside Nybro in Småland. Her father's garden was widely renowned for its unusual flowers and fruit trees. The exhibition will show some 275 works by Lisbet and Gocken, from the 1930s to the 1980s. Their world of pottery and textiles is rendered in settings by floral artist Gunnar Kaj. Also, the ways in which the Jobs sisters' classic textile designs are used by leading designers today form an important part of the exhibition.
